How? Please tell me how I can return here months later and the food be so incredibly different than my first visit? The chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce was terrible - too greasy, terribly salty and much too spicy, awful sauce. The hot and sour soup wasn't as good either.I raved about this place to my friend and her dish (mixed vegetables) was much too spicy too and she hardly ate any of it.From a 5 to a 1? Ahh...consistency.

Absolutely amazing. This actually wasn't the first choice when my team at work was searching for a Chinese place for a belated Chinese New Year luncheon, but I'm so glad we ended up here!We ordered dan dan noodles, chicken and brocoli, veggie dumplings, chendu dumplings, General Tso's chicken, ma po tofu, and sauteed spinach. Oh. My God. Amazing food. The food has no MSG, literally everything we ordered was incredible, and they delivered exactly on time.SO pleased. :)

Food here is pretty solid. All of the usual Sichuanese dishes are on the menu (dan dan mian, little dumplings in chili oil, shui zhu yu pian, dry fried string beans). The whole fish (dou ban chuan yu) is really good, and the price for the whole fish is pretty decent considering that you are in midtown manhattan and not in Chinatown. One thing that I will say is that although they use a good amount of Sichuanese peppercorns, some of the spice seems a bit milder than what I am used to, but it's still tasty. The service is decent here, as well. The food comes out fairly quickly, and the staff is polite. For those who like to drink while eating their Sichuanese, they have a small selection of wine and beer that you can choose from.

This place is authentic chinese food and real good at that. Every time I go to this restaurant it's mostly chinese people eating there. Food isn't oily and the prices are good and delivery time is under 30 minutes even for lunch hours. I love everything on the menu especially the chicken with broccolli, I've eaten at many chinese food resturants and this one is hands down by far the best in midtown east. Even the noodle soups are amazing. So if you are in midtown east and you need a great chinese fast food spot i highly recommend this restaurant! One last note, they will customize any dish the way you want it which is also a plus :)

Food is good at this restaurant, however, service is awful! I ordered food to be ready for pickup in advance. The old Cantonese woman at cashier looked completely clueless when I mentioned my seamless order. I had to show her my email confirmation, to which she went on to lecture me on how I should not have ordered in advance and I should have confirmed my order via phone if I order in advance online?! Confirm via phone after placing an online order? Is she kidding? Then I had to sit there and wait 20 minutes for my order to be cooked since she just realized she forgot to put my online order in. Who is she to lecture me because of her own incompetence on managing logistics of online and over-the-phone orders? And if this restaurant cannot handle online orders which often may be placed in advance then don't put their restaurant on seamless!!! I will never order from this restaurant again!

The other yelpers weren't kidding, the dan dan mian here is legendary. Just the right amount of numbness, just perfect. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the other dishes. The braised sliced beef with chili sauce was average at best, and the Rabbit with Chili was a step below that. I will definitely come back, but only for their dan dan noodles.

Eh, this place is just okay. It has a good lunch special and prices are decent, but other than that it's not worth making the trip here. I have also found that it is hit or miss depending on time of day. I came here once on the weekend to get food while I was at work and the food was definitely not as fresh and tasted like it had been sitting there all day, gross.

Ahhhh so good. My coworker and I were in our Midtown office one Saturday rather than our FiDi office. But what about our long-standing tradition of our outrageously huge Saturday night order from Famous Sichuan on Pell Street?! Horror! We were going to starve! Not so. We stumbled across this on Seamless. Pumpkin soup? Frog legs? Tripe? This place sounded legit, so we ordered. And WOW. Best choice ever. We ordered really spicy frog legs (Famous Sichuan doesn't have them any longer!), dry-rubbed chicken, spicy cabbage, and jellyfish. All of it was excellent, and none of it was salty. The frog legs were so tender and juicy-- and they didn't look like legs, which was a plus. (They were diced-- but still had some bone. However, the meat fell off the bone, so I didn't even notice.)And I can still taste the chicken. It was so perfect-- the medley of spices really outdid itself. I have never had such good chicken in my life. The jellyfish was the perfect consistency, and the cabbage was great-- it even had some dried capsicum peppers mixed in!Fantastic option. Order here at least once if you work in the area. The next time I work from our Midtown office, I know what I'm getting for dinner!

I especially like the chicken fried rice with no soy sauce and the spicy garlic chicken. I didn't care for their general Tso's chicken though... The only issue I have is understanding the person who takes orders on the phone. Other than that the food is great!

Having sampled every other Grand Sichuan in Manhattan and been consistently impressed with the flavor and authenticity of the franchise, today I had to try this Midtown East variety.Slightly less spicy but very fresh, we tried the whole fish in fresh chill and stir-fried green beans with minced pork. Both tasty and flavorful.

The service is bad...and take a VERY CLOSE look when you receive the bill. They charge more than the amount that appears on the menu. Some of the wait staff seem to have a "real attitude". The food is nothing special.

It's hard finding good Sichuan places that are authentic and actually spicy. This place definitely fits both bills.I came here with a bunch of people, so we had a great sampling of what Grand Sichuan has to offer. In terms of what I'd recommend, here's the quick tips:* If you have to get only a few dishes, I think the best I tried was: mapo tofu, pickled vegetable with hot chili fish soup (?), and the stir-fried green beans* Other good dishes: ja jang mein, kung pao chicken, wontons or dumplings in chili oil, anything stir-fried with beef.* Avoid the stir-fried eggplant with garlic sauce. Pretty sure they didn't cook it all the way through.* DEFINITELY get at least one dish that is NOT spicy and green to cut the spice. Pea shoots were our vegetable of choice.* Service isn't attentive, but it's what you'd expect from a Chinese establishment.I've been told that there are a few Grand Sichuan's around Manhattan, and this is supposedly the best one. I can't speak to that personally, but I definitely thought the meal was delicious.

I only tried this place once, so maybe my view is skewed, but I had a fantastic meal. I ordered the Dan Dan noodles and the Chongqing chicken.. I asked that they make both dishes very spicy. The Dan Dan noodles are awesome, very tasty. The Chongqing chicken was different that they serve it in China, but very good. It was super spicy, but had other flavor mixed in the spice. Also, the chicken was off the bone, while in China it is usually still on the bone. The dish was piled high with the red peppers which is very authentic. I ate both dishes, washed them down with a cold beer or 2 and left a very, very happy man!

Sichuan style is absolutely my favorite Chinese. I went here last summer and had some kind of fish that came in a pot. Wasn't crazy about it.I went again yesterday just because I was super hungry and when I began to feel I couldn't bear it anymore, I was passing by this place. I walked in and all the workers were crossing their arms across their chests and kept staring at me. They didn't even say hi. I didn't care much because sometimes that's just how Chinese people are.I was alone and this lady tried to have me seat at the table in the middle of room. I asked if I could seat at the table by the wall. The lady rolled her eyes and it's for a group of 4. I told her " But there's no one here" (There was literally 0 number of people in the restaurant besides those workers). The lady got annoyed and then yelled at me "Ok then, seat wherever you want" swinging her arm in the air in a very big motion. I told her to forget it then had to walk out. It's just unbelievable that anybody can treat their customer this way if they care about their business.

My friend was craving Sichuan food, so we had actually gone to a few other places closer to the west side, but they all had extremely long waits. We called this place beforehand asking if there was a wait for two people, and the woman said no, so we told her we'd be there in about five minutes as we walked over. When we arrived, the place was completely packed, and the woman we had spoken to earlier on the phone told us we should've arrived earlier. Who would've known the whole place would fill up in five minutes?! We ended up waiting another fifteen minutes and were considering ordering taking out, but we had just come back from ice skating, so we were tired and just decided to stick it out and eat there. The place is small, so there aren't many tables. Expect to sit only a foot or less away from the table next to you.We ended up ordering spicy pork belly in spicy garlic sauce for an appetizer and the spicy double cooked pork as an entree. Everything was so delicious and very spicy. My mouth was on fire, but perhaps not everyone will agree because I cannot handle too much spicy. The pork belly was topped with scallions and chopped peanuts; the peanuts were a nice touch to add some texture since the pork was very soft. The dish was drenched in oil, so I had to let some of it drip off before eating otherwise I'd probably clog all my arteries and die young. The double cooked pork wasn't nearly as on fire as the pork belly, but it still had quite a kick. It was sauteed with slivers of Chinese cucumbers and crunchy fungus (the literal English translation would be wood ear). I felt as though pork belly was a large portion for an appetizer, but the double cooked pork was small for an entree. When the check arrived, we realized that perhaps we should've done take-out because the dishes were $1 or $2 more when you dine-in. For future reference, if you have the option of taking out, I recommend it.Food is tasty and very spicy (which it should be if it's Sichuan food), but I wish the prices were more reasonable.
